Master’s in Divinity graduate through Wayland Baptist University. Fully ordained as a Minister of the Word through Christian Leaders Institute. Experience in leading, preparing, and teaching both large and small group bible studies. Worked with youth in various ways to including teaching, chaperoning, and leading. Disciple both individuals and short-term trips. Experience opening my home and showing hospitality towards others in various ways to include hosting people and having Bible studies in home. Experience with getting immersed into foreign cultures. Experience setting up, planning, and running ministry events. Leading and coordinating family events. Spend time with individuals in one on one prayer. Hosted fellowship events for people to grow in relationships, such as board game events. Skilled in information technology and cyber security, and have provided these skills in ministry settings. Skilled in providing ministry assistance in social medial forms such as Facebook. Lead and participated in outreach sporting events.

I recently graduated with my Masters in Divinity in 2018, responding to the calling that God has placed on my heart to serve in ministry. I have served God through many volunteer opportunities, small group studies, and missions work.

Statement of Faith Jeremy Derby

I believe in:

1. Scripture: The Bible as the Word of God, inspired by God and is completely true and free from error in its original manuscripts.

(Rom 15:4; 2 Tim 3:15-17; Heb 4:12; 1 Pet 1:25; 2 Pet 1:20-21)

2. The Trinity of the Godhead: There is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.

(Mt 28:19; Jn 14:6-17; Rom 8:6-16; 1 Jn 5:6-9; Jn 1:1-2)

3. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ: Jesus is both the eternal Son of God and the Son of Man, two distinct natures in one Person forever.

(Isa 7:14; Mt 1:18-23; 16:16; Rom 1:3-4; Phil 2:5-11)

4. Of Creation: I believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six days (Genesis 1-2), including all life (Colossians 1:16-17; John 1:3), “each after its own kind” (Genesis 1:24), by direct act, and not by the process of evolution (Psalm 33:6).

5. Of Marriage: I believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.

I believe that God created men and women in the image of God and that marriage, as God ordained, is the union of one man and one woman spiritually and physically. Men and women are also uniquely designed to display the glory of God in the Gospel through marriage. God creates marriage (Genesis 2:18-25) and Paul tells us that when we embrace biblical headship and submission, we help to illustrate the Gospel. As husbands and wives together pursue this Gospel picture of Christ and the church, they personally pursue Christlikeness.

Further, I believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and woman. I believe that any form of homo-sexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. I believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.

6. Women in Ministry: Woman have an important role in ministry. Jesus had many different woman that were part of His group of disciples and many woman held leadership positions in the early church.https://calendly.com/d/gsw-h58-27g

7. The Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which assures the resurrection of all believers who have accepted God’s gift of eternal life.

(Mt 28; Acts 7:55-56; Rom 1:3-4; 1 Cor 15:3-8; Eph 1:20)

The atonement ofJesus Christ bore our sins when He shed His blood and died on the cross. He paid the price for our sins.

(Rom 5:6-8; 5:19; 6:23; Col 1:21-22; 1 Tim 1:15)

8. The Salvation: The necessity for each individual to accept the gift of salvation and eternal life, by choosing to invite Jesus Christ into his or her life to be both Savior and Lord.

(Jn 1:12; 5:24; 6:37; Lk 5:32; Acts 16:31; Rom 10:13; Eph 2:4-10; 1 Jn 5:12;)

We are all sinners who need a Savior, Jesus Christ, to restore us to the right relationship with God.

(Gen 3; Is 1:18; Rom 1:22-32)

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer: He quickens from death to life and continues His work of sanctification during the lifetime of the Christian.

(Acts 1:3-9; 1 Thess 4:8)

9. Of the Church:

Church is the collective body of believers.

Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water and is beautiful and solemn uniting the believer with the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit, with the effects of the faith in our lives as it produces death to sin and resurrection to a new life.

(Acts 8:36-39; Rom 6:3-5).

The Lord’s supper is the commemoration of our Lords death until He comes and our continual fellowship with Him.
