Tilghman, Justin
Ultimately, I love Jesus and I love His church. I was raised in the Free Will Baptist church, spent my childhood in the Disciples of Christ denomination, attended a United Methodist Church during high school, a Southern Baptist church during college, and currently attend a non-denominational church in Kinston, NC. All this to say that I can appreciate the differences of opinion between the various denominations but also know that we are often working toward the same goal of seeing lives changed for Jesus Christ.
I have been involved in church ministry in various forms for the past 10 years. During my college years I was a worship leader for Campus Crusade for Christ, as well as with the NC Baptist State Convention’s Deep Impact youth camps. I have served in preaching/teaching at my home church now for the past 2 years and have been blessed to visit and speak at various other churches in the past several years as well.
I am currently finishing up my MA in Theological Studies at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and will begin work on my PhD in Biblical Studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the fall of 2015. My heart and passion, through my studies, is expository preaching of God’s Word that is faithful to the biblical text while also being informative and practical for God’s people. I also believe that our churches today are doctrinally anemic and my passion is to see a fresh understanding of true biblical doctrine revived in our day.
I am willing to drive as far as needed. If the trip, due to distance, would require an overnight stay I would only request that a love offering be taken up to perhaps help pay for my travel expenses. Otherwise, gas money would be perfectly sufficient. However, money will not be an issue that keeps me from ministering to God’s people as they have need.
