Woody, Stephen

My name is Stephen Woody and I love God’s Word and the opportunity to minister to the church, particularly through preaching. I have served in the local church in various capacities for the last 15 years, most recently in an official role as the associate pastor at Green Run Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. I left there in 2016 and moved to Wake Forest, NC, where I just completed my Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am currently a member of North Wake Church in Wake Forest, NC, where I seek to use my gifts and serve the body. With the completion of my degree, however, I am eager to pursue full-time vocational ministry wherever God might lead me and my family.
I love the Lord Jesus and love God’s Word; I am passionate about shepherding God’s people and helping them to apply the truth of the Scriptures. When I was at Green Run, I had opportunities to be involved in all facets of ministry, including regular preaching and teaching, counseling, ministry planning, overseeing youth and children’s ministries, leading a small group in my home, and being available to our members in many unique scenarios of life. I also ran the day to day operations of our Christian school for part of my time there. All of these opportunities were confirming of God’s gifting for ministry, and I believe God used them to further equip me to serve the body of Christ as a pastor.
I am excited about the opportunity to preach, and would be eager to preach in any church setting. This season of life affords me the freedom to preach if opportunity presents itself, and I am delighted to serve Christ’s church however I can.
